How We Review

No fake reviews. No paid rankings.

1. Specs come from the manufacturer

For every camera we read the maker's official UK product page first, then their global page, spec sheet or user manual. Each spec on the site links to the page we saw it on, with the date we checked. If official sources contradict each other, we leave the spec unverified and explain why in the research notes.

We don't use Amazon listings, other review sites or forums as a source for specs.

2. The spec score

Each camera gets a score out of 100 from confirmed specs only. A spec we can't confirm scores zero:

  • Resolution (up to 30): 4K 30 · 2.7K 24 · 1440p 20 · 1080p 12
  • Cameras (up to 20): Front, rear & cabin 20 · two cameras 15 · front only 5
  • GPS (up to 10): 10 if the official spec confirms built-in or included GPS
  • Wi-Fi (up to 8): 8 if confirmed
  • Parking mode (up to 10): 10 if a parking mode is confirmed (most need a hardwire kit)
  • Low-light sensor (up to 10): 10 for a named Sony STARVIS sensor · 5 for another stated night mode
  • HDR / WDR (up to 6): 6 if confirmed
  • Cloud features (up to 6): 6 if confirmed

Ties are broken by how many specs are verified. "Best for" lists use simple published rules shown on each list page, then the same score.

3. What the score isn't

It's not a hands-on test: it can't tell you about image quality, app reliability or build. When we test a camera ourselves, the review will say exactly how (where, when, which settings) and show labelled footage. When owner ratings arrive, a camera's rating will only show once it has enough approved reviews.

4. Prices

Prices are read once a day from each brand's official UK store, respecting robots.txt. A new price only goes live after it appears on two checks in a row, and every price shows when it was last checked.

5. Money and independence

We may earn commission from some links in future; it will be disclosed, and it never affects scores, rankings or which cameras we include. Affiliate disclosure
